The winter weather within the United States is very varied, with temperatures fluctuating wide in the north and south parts of the nation. Yet, temperatures are usually below freezing in several places, and recently, temperatures in winter have set records in some areas. For example, on January 30 and January 30, Chicago had the lowest temperatures in over 34 years, with wind chills ranging between -50 and -30 degrees Fahrenheit. However, Chicago might not be in the top 10 list of the coldest city in the US.
